When the acne chooses to stay on your face for more than 24 hours…what is it that you resort to? Or some of you like me, when you get any sort of an ailment, lets say cold, is it GINGER tea (the hit Grand ma’s option) that you immediately resort to? If yes… then this article would make complete sense to you… Grandma hacks essentially is exactly what Ayurveda provides you!! And surprisingly Ayurveda, that originates in our own motherland has even been tried and sometimes is even applied in the treatment of cancer.
What is Ayurveda?
Ayurveda, can best be described as a therapy or a healing system using traditional herbs and methodologies that brings harmony among the mind, spirit and surrounding environment which in turn helps to
balance the three doshas (air, fire and water and water and earth).
I am writing this with a lot of pride, our Indian kitchen houses the most incredible herbs that have been found to have anti-carcinogenic effects. Some of them have been known to reduce the susceptibility towards cancer while others have been found to fight against cancer as well and Ayurvedic treatment of cancer is a unexplored arena. It also includes yoga and massage therapies that help to combat chronic pain and provides relaxation.

The common herb which is also mentioned in the Ramayana, has been found to contain herbs that arrest the growth of cancer cells at laboratory level. Not only this, through a study it was also found to reduce the development of skin tumors and ovarian cancer in mice
Commonly known as Indian ginseng, has been found to kill cancerous cells. It has also shown to effectively combat stress.
Enjoyed by most Indians in their tea and also in their balcony as a sacred plant, has shown to improve immunity. It has anti-inflammatory and anti diabetic properties as well. Also, the phytochemicals present in Tulsi has been found to avert the chances of cancers such as lung, liver and skin cancer.
Reported to be loaded with sulphur, arginine, flavonoids and other bio active compounds such as allicin. The European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition, through a study outlined that consumption of garlic and ginger significantly reduced the risk of cancer.
A medicinal plant contains a compound called Withaferin A, that has been reported to arrest the growth of certain breast cancer cells. Surprisingly, the extract from the roots of this plant was also found to cause cell death in melanoma cells.
