Rakesh Roshan Cancer: His Battle
Rakesh Roshan Cancer battle is inspirations. He taught the world cancer treatment beyond the drugs. Heres how
Nothing matches the chemistry of a father and son or a mother and daughter. Not for any other reason but, for how the latter looks up to the former for achieving goals and be like! And blessed are all of us, who manage to be even half as what our parents have been or are. A well-known father son duo Rakesh Roshan and Hrithik Roshan, is one that most of us know about. I will be surprised if you are unfamiliar with them.
But what is it that makes me write about them? Well, I wish to talk about his battle with cancer and how he sprung up as a hero again!
The January of 2019, Rakesh Roshan wake up to this reality. He revealed about his diagnosis of the disease to the world. He was diagnosed with early stage squamous cell carcinoma (throat cancer). Rakesh Roshan, a renowned filmmaker in the Bollywood industry, is a healthy father who kept himself upto the numbers. A good lifestyle, with regular exercise routine and a healthy eating. But surprisingly, he was still bombed by this “not too pleasant” reality.
Late in September of 2018, he observed a minor blister under his tongue which surprised him at first. He called his family doctor and was recommended to get a biopsy of the tongue.
“I went in for the biopsy, and was informed by my doctor that it was indeed a tumor”
“Honestly, it is the worst to get a cancer on the tongue.” Rakesh Roshan confirmed post the diagnosis.
As a part of the treatment, he was informed that the doctor may have to cut his tongue at specific points and do some grafting. This sounded scary at first and yes he opted to never get this done. Instead decided to go for sessions for chemotherapy and anti-cancer drugs.
Post the treatment sessions, he also confirmed why it was worst to have a cancer on the tongue. “The taste buds undergo a change and lose their function to taste anything, which makes it even more difficult, added Rakesh.
Truly to ones’ imagination, one becomes unable to drink water, coffee and tea or anything else. He had no option, but to bear with this for atleast 2-3 months until he started to recover from his cancer. Cancer, as is known by now, drains you off energy and of course kilos. It made him weak and the cancer treatment made it even worse. Chemotherapy not only kills the cancerous cells but also the good healthy cells which brings you weakness.
However, to his strength and determination, as he began to recover he encouraged himself to get back to his routine. As is known from sources, Hrithik helped him get to his previous workout routine. So, the duo not only is known to share a healthy equation on screen but also serve as pillars to each other. This indeed helped him get his stamina back as quick as he could wish for.
In fact, Rakesh was advised surgery by a cancer specialist from the US. “I went through it on Jan 8. I was back in the office on Jan 12.”
Men and that who is a father, are considered to be rock strong and are often not expected to express his vulnerability, and this is believed to be true for Rakesh Roshan as well. Hrithik wanted his father to break open and let it all flow. And ultimately he did and which helped him.
Hrithik adds, probably dad was holding enough to him which made him unhealthy but I am glad he is back to form now. He comes out as a strong, determined individual who never missed a single day of workout.
For obvious reasons, it is super critical to be mindful of adequate lifestyle habits that we all should practice considering our age groups. It is also important to not be callous and be aware of different signs that our body may at times try and showcase to us. An awakened soul, non-callous attitude followed by an effective and early diagnosis definitely govern the journey of any cancer or disease story.
