People with bladder cancer may have the following symptoms or signs (to note that sometimes people with bladder cancer do not have any of these signs, or they may be the cause of another, non-cancerous condition):
blood or blood clots in the urine;
pain or burning sensation during urination;
frequent urination;
the frequent urge to urinate overnight;
the urge to urinate, but the inability to remove urine;
back pain.
Blood from urine is the most common symptom of bladder cancer. 4 out of 5 people with bladder cancer (80%) have hematuria or blood in the urine. It usually looks bright red. Rarely, it may look dark brown. Sometimes the blood is present in such a small amount that you can not see it and can only be detected by blood tests.
