Preventing oral cancer along with early detection is the most effective approach to this disease. You can do many things to reduce the risk of oral cancer:
Quit smoking. This will seriously reduce your health risks, no matter how long you smoke.
Do not drink alcohol excessively, especially if you do this regularly.
Limit sun exposure time. Repeated exposure may favor lip cancer, especially in the lower lip. Do not forget to use an effective protective cream for both the skin and the lips.
A rich and diversified diet that contains many fruits and vegetables (rich in vitamins A, C, and E) provides protection against oral cancer development. Olive oil and fish are also recommended.
Protected sex as well as limiting the number of partners/partners can reduce the risk of papillomavirus (HPV) infection.
If you notice any abnormal changes in the oral cavity that do not heal within 2 weeks, do not forget to tell your doctor. Oral screening every 6 months is another important step.
