Prostate Cancer Signs and Symptoms
To check whether you have prostate cancer or not, you should look out for these signs. These signs will be evident in your body changes and other pointers that can signal that there is a problem and that you do need urgent medical care. It must, however, be stated that the early-stage prostate cancer does not have symptoms or signs, and is usually discovered through a PSA test or DRE – screening. Once this test indicates evidence of prostate cancer, subsequent monitoring and testing are needed to diagnose the actual disease.
Some of the symptoms and signs are:
- Frequent urination
- Blood in the urine
- Pain during urination
- Discomfort when sitting as a result of an enlarged prostate
- Blood in the seminal fluid
- Weak urine flow
- Urge to urinate at night more frequently
- New onset of erectile dysfunction
Again, if you have prostate cancer, you might not have any of the above signs or changes. That is, there are other noncancerous conditions like BPH or enlarged prostate, which could result in similar signs. In other words, the cause may be a different condition that does not depict cancer. Once the cancer is beyond the prostate gland, you are likely to experience:
- Fatigue
- Sudden change in bowel habits
- Weight loss which you cannot account for
- Swelling or fluid buildup in the legs or your feet
- Pain in the thighs, shoulders, bones or back.
