Penile Cancer
Penile cancer is cancer of the penis. It should not be confused with prostate cancer. For our guide on prostate cancer click here. In India, penile cancer is not one of the most common types.
Symptoms of Penile Cancer
- Skin becoming lighter or darker
- Skin becoming thicker
- Lumps or bumps
- Abnormal growths
- Ulcer
- Patches looking like a rash
Causes
- Infections
- Poor hygiene
- HPV
- Smoking
- Age, more common in older men
Treatment
As with other cancer types, the earlier penile cancer is caught the better the treatment. Penile cancer is not as deadly as other cancer types. 50% of patients survive for 5 years.
Common treatments include surgery and radiation therapy.
